10 years of support for young talent

Banque Privée Edmond de Rothschild has sponsored the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad for a decade

We endorsed this project ten years ago because it echoed the values of our Bank as well as the Rothschild family's philosophy. The aims of this first festival of the winter season are to emphasise quality and to promote young talent, by giving them a large audience and an opportunity to play alongside veteran musicians.

The 10th annual Sommets Musicaux were highlighted by the return visit of several young artists who performed at the chapel in Gstaad and the church in Saanen.
Their popularity has increased continually since their first appearances at the festival.

With us again were Kirill Gerstein, Alexandra Soumm, Andrei Korobeinikov, Plamena Mangova, Emmanuel Ceysson, Yevgeny Subdin, Serguey Malov, Johannes Moser, Bertrand Chamayou, Joseph Moog, David Kadouch, Nicolas Altstaedt, Marie-Stéphanie Janecek, David Pia, liviu Prunaru, Adam Krzeszowiec and the Berolina and Morgenstern trios.

These rising stars were accompanied by the prestigious Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Camerata Bern orchestra and the Sinfonia Varsovia.

After the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad 2010, the Victoires de la Musique 2010

Some of our young musicians were honoured at the latest Victoires de la Musique awards held on 8 February 2010. The winners included David Kadouch, a 24-year-old pianist in the "Instrumental Soloist Revelation" category. He had performed in Gstaad on 31 January.

Other nominees in the same category included the young harpist Emmanuel Ceysson, winner of the Marguerite Dütschler Prize in 2005. He had also been featured in Gstaad, on 3 February.

Bertrand Chamayou (a Victoires de la Musique 2006 laureate) was nominated in the Instrumental "Soloist of the Year" category. He had given a concert in Gstaad on 6 February.

Finally, Vadim Repin, who had performed at the Sommets Musicaux in 2002, received a "Victoire d’Honneur" in honour of his career.

In 2011 the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad will take place from 28 January to 5 February. Come and join us in this delightful setting, where discriminating classical music audiences inevitably come away enchanted./p>
